Back yard garden

Temps this morning let up so that gardening was a tolerable and pleasant, although warm, event. The leaves had piled up and all needed a spruce up. Also, I found a lemon verbena plant to preplace one 3 years old that had been lost in last year's freeze. There is more to do, but that is the pattern of a garden.

Mr. Bing, my neighbor, shared some of his brillant zinnias with me. The colors are like sunsets or fireworks, and my students and I will enjoy painting them!

TRUST JESUS

When Nigel, my puppy, and I walk early mornings at Gould's Inlet, I always look up at the sign in the upper window of the lovely three story white beach residence: "TRUST JESUS"! This morning I looked up, and...the message is gone!! I felt a great sadness, and will now look to see if anyone is indeed living on the third floor of that empty beach house...no life on the other floors or out front.

Mussels

I attach my oil monotype of "Mussel Patterns", those heavenly blue shells whose innards provide such a tasty meal. The "Riprap" verse describes them well:
"Upon the rocks grow beautiful, small things. Mussels, with mossy beards. Dark blue shells.
They sigh as the tide rises."

Reviewing the Celebration

The Boston Pops Fireworks to celebrate the 4th has been a favorite. Over the years the program has changed to delete the firing of the canon, and installing singers automated during the firewoks display. Nevertheless the Boston Pops orchestra remains the same in the shell on the Esplanade with casts of thousands cheering!

St. Simons Island Pier

Today was a rain filled day. I painted this watercolor a few years ago before all of the new additions. The pier still looks like this on a rainy rainy day.
